I have always been an artist, from my earliest memories in school and I have always loved art and recognized its ability to move people and inspire people in a myriad of ways. When I was in grade school, living with my parents and my twin sister in the village of Fox Point in Wisconsin, I was known as the class artist and then, like so many children, moved away from artistry for other endeavors that came with growing up and making a living. I am so happy now that I am once again living a life with a very active interest in art.
I began my adult life at Indiana University where I got a B.A. in economics and, later, an M.B.A. in Marketing. Upon graduation from Business school, I moved to New York City for my first real job, a position in an advertising agency on Madison Avenue. This is where my reintroduction to the world of creativity kicked into high gear. I loved all creativity in all its aspects and pursued my interests in painting, writing and interior design and any other endeavor that moved my creative spirit. After twelve years in the corporate world with positions in Atlanta, Dallas and then San Francisco, I spent a year traveling around the world for the pure adventure of it without any real purpose other than to experience different places, different people and different textures in life. When I returned to the USA, I rented an apartment in San Francisco where I dug even deeper into my creative pursuits that included a novel, writing for the S.F. Chronicle, acting in theatre and commercial TV, painting in watercolors and acrylics, and pursuits in home design, specifically interior and landscape design. From SF, I lived in luscious Napa Valley for fifteen years before moving to Arizona for six years and then Dallas for a six month stint in 2011 to experience that dynamic city before returning to Sedona albeit with a quick junket to Oregon.
Right now I'm residing in Portland, Oregon for a while (my home is still in Sedona) and I've set up a studio which I share with another artist, a wonderful and talented woman who I have been living with for several years. In October, 2011 we dropped in on Portland for a bit of an adventure because it is a vibrant and stimulating market for artists of all kinds with a wonderfully cool (and delightfully wet) climate. If you contact me with a special interest in my art, I will be happy to arrange an appointment for you to come see my work in my in-home studio where I share my artistic pursuits with a person, like me, fully dedicated to creativity. You might be surprised how large canvases of brilliant and natural colors can make you feel closer to nature.
In addition, you are invited to see my recent work that is dedicated to animal rights and respect for animals. Its multi-media mix of acrylics and the super-scribing of penciled messages creates an impact that can only be appreciated in close up viewing. If you share my interests in animal rights and love for animals, you will be moved by the messages in this collection. My interest grows and grows in this heartfelt endeavor.
My work is in private collections in Southampton, Winter Park, New Canaan, Nantucket, Napa Valley, Scottsdale, Sedona, Dallas, and Seattle.
